Tim Leger is entering his second season as Louisiana’s offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach and sixth season overall on the staff.

Additionally, Leger serves as the recruiting coordinator and was a key component in the Ragin’ Cajuns signing the top ranked 2023 class in the Sun Belt by Rivals.com.

Leger helped Louisiana to its school record fifth consecutive bowl game in 2022 as the Ragin’ Cajuns had four offensive players earn All-Sun Belt Conference honors, highlighted by Michael Jefferson, who was named to the third team.

During the 2021 campaign, Jefferson came up big for Louisiana under Leger’s watch, catching 18 balls for 481 yards and four touchdowns en route to earning Sun Belt Conference Honorable Mention honors.

Wideout Kyren Lacy continued to be a threat with a team-high six touchdown receptions, while New Iberia product Peter LeBlanc led the team in receptions with 35. In all, four Ragin’ Cajuns receivers had more than 300 receiving yards on the year and four different pass catches had more than two touchdown catches.

Leger’s receiving corps went on to help Louisiana clinch the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Championship behind a program-record 13-game winning streak.

Lacy and Jalen Williams were bright spots for the receiving corps during the 2020 season. Lacy led the team with 364 receiving yards and four touchdowns en route to being listed on the Football Writers Association of America’s Freshman All-America Watch List.

Williams finished the year with 360 yards and matched Lacy’s four touchdowns, while LeBlanc was the only other Cajun receiver to eclipse the 300-yard receiving mark with 334 on the year to go along with one score.

Leger helped Ja’Marcus Bradley solidify himself as one of the best wide receivers in Louisiana football program history during the 2019 season after Bradley finished the year with 906 receiving yards on 60 receptions and 10 touchdowns to earn Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference and First Team All-Louisiana honors.

Bradley finished this 2019 season ranked third in the Sun Belt and 25th nationally with his double-digit touchdown total, while his yardage total was good for second in the Sun Belt and 54th in FBS. He went on to sign a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns.

In all, Leger’s receivers caught 204 balls for 2,796 yards and 17 touchdowns, helping quarterback Levi Lewis set the school record for passing yards (3,050) and passing touchdowns (26) in a single season.

Bradley also led the receiving corps in Leger’s first year, hauling in 40 passes for 608 yards and 10 touchdowns. His 10 scores were the most by a Ragin’ Cajuns since 1976, when Dave Oliver also hauled in 10. His efforts earned him Second Team All-Sun Belt honors. He was complimented by Ryheem Malone, who brought in a team-best 44 catches for 525 yards and four scores.

Prior to joining the staff in 2018, Leger served as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at ULM from 2016-17. The Warhawks ranked third in the Sun Belt in receiving yards in 2017 averaging 288.8 yards per game while posting 33.9 points per game.

Under Leger, All-Sun Belt standout RJ Turner finished the 2017 season among the best in the league in both receiving yards (693) and touchdowns (6).

Prior to ULM, Leger spent nine seasons as the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at McNeese from 2007-15.

In 2015, the Cowboys offense averaged just under 400 yards per contest while scoring 30.2 points per game as seven offensive players earned All-Southland Conference honors and three earned All-Louisiana honors that season.

During his tenure in McNeese he coached a pair of Southland Conference award winners. In 2009, he tutored Derrick Fourroux was the league’s Player of the Year and in 2014, Cody Stroud, who broke several school records, was named the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year.

Leger began his coaching career as a student assistant coach at McNeese State in 1999 and served as a graduate assistant during the 2000 season. He then joined the staff at St. Thomas More High School where he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2001-06. During his time at St. Thomas More, the squad won six district titles and reached the state semifinals four times.

Leger was drafted in the fourth round by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1992 MLB First Year Player Draft and he played three seasons in the Pirate organization. After his baseball career ended, he began his collegiate football career as a quarterback at McNeese State.

He was four-year letterwinner for the Cowboys from 1995-98, Leger was an All-Southland Conference quarterback in 1996 after leading the conference in passing and setting the school record for total offense per game. He played on league championship teams in 1995 and 1997 and the 1997 squad advanced to the FCS National Championship game.
