Fall academic advising occurs in October and spring/summer academic advising happens in March.  The student-athlete is responsible for knowing the university’s advising schedule each semester and for making an appointment with his/her Faculty Academic Advisor.  Here are some tips for successful advising and registration:

  • Make your advising appointment with your Faculty Academic Advisor as soon as the advising session begins.  Mark the date on your calendar and show up on time.

  • Go to your appointment with a list of classes you want to take.  Check co/pre-requisites in current catalog.

  • Request that your advisor give you a current distribution sheet or curriculum cross check.  This will ensure you do not schedule duplicate courses and will help you determine alternate and/or elective courses.

  • Check ULINK for registration holds and take care of these holds ASAP.  Failure to do so by the priority registration date may result in you not getting your preferred class schedule.  You cannot enroll in classes with registration holds on your account.

  • Check with your coach to determine practice and workout schedule for the following semester.

  • Bring completed blue advising form signed by an advisor to Ms. Christy, Mr. Lane, or Ms. Tambria BEFORE the priority registration date.  Make sure you include the 6 digit section I.D. numbers.

Priority Scheduling:  Because of the extra demands placed on student-athletes due to their practice and travel schedules, student-athletes are given the opportunity to register for courses earlier than the rest of the student body.  Priority registration enables the student-athletes to pick specific class times and arrange their course schedules around their responsibilities to his/her team.  On the priority scheduling day(s), the student-athlete’s Academic Counselor will enter the class selections into the university computer system (ISIS).
