University of Louisiana at Lafayette Athletics

Book Voucher Policy and Purchasing Process

Full scholarship student-athletes and those student-athletes receiving a book scholarship will obtain their textbooks in the following manner:
  • The student-athlete will go to the SAAC beginning the first day of classes to obtain their voucher which will list the books required for the semester.
  • The student-athlete will pick up his/her books indicated on the list utilizing the voucher and bring them to the Customer Service Desk at the UL Bookstore in the Student Union.  The student-athlete must also have his/her student i.d. card and a syllabus for each class listed on the voucher.
  • If a class has been dropped, the student-athlete should not obtain books for this course.
  • If a class has been added after the voucher was distributed, the student-athlete must obtain a book extension form from the SAAC.  This form will be brought to the Customer Service Desk at the UL Bookstore and the book(s) will then be provided.  A syllabus and his/her student i.d. card is still required.
  • If the UL Bookstore does not have a book needed for the class, the student-athlete will have to purchase the book with his/her own funds.  The student-athlete will then bring the receipt to the SAAC and that receipt will be forwarded to the Athletics Department for reimbursement.  The student-athlete should receive a reimbursement check in approximately 6-8 weeks.
All textbooks which are obtained in the manner described above must be returned at the end of the semester.  The SAAC will post the dates and location of book returns, which typically occurs the last two days of final exams in the Student Union Art Gallery.  Failure to do so will result in a charge placed on the student-athlete’s account equal to half the value of the book not returned.  Additionally, the student-athlete will not be eligible to receive his/her special assistance check the following semester.  NOTE: Student-athletes are financially responsible for lost or stolen books.
