Hit first career home run March 25, 2000 vs. Florida St.
Flexible pitcher came into own during sophomore season...Improvement showed
as coaches continued to throw her in big games...After pitching against
just one ranked team in freshman season, made five appearances vs. a ranked
team...Allowed two runs on 7 hits in 13 innings of work against
nationally-ranked LSU last year.
2000: Multi-talented pitcher also doubled as designated player at times,
pitching 20 games while hitting in 34…Finished second on team in ERA at
1.55 and second on team in wins with 15…Completed 10 of the 15 games she
started and threw five shutouts while combining on another…Pitched Ragin'
Cajuns to NCAA Regional victory, scattering five hits and one run against
LSU in a 4-1 win…Twice struck out 10 batters in a game, doing so at
Centenary and against Nicholls St…Launched first collegiate homer against
Florida St. March 25 …Had seven hits and seven RBIs in three-game stretch
Feb. 22-25.
1999: After battling flu during first few weeks of season, came on to have
solid freshman campaign...Won first nine decisions of collegiate
career...Was only pitcher to have perfect record during regular
season...Was third on team with 1.54 ERA and had five shutouts to her
credit...Gave strong performance despite losing in championship game of
NCAA Regional...Battled over first three innings to give team chance before
leaving after giving up four runs...Struck out career-best 14 April 10 in
11-inning win over McNeese State...Gave up only one earned run final
weekend of year at Mississippi and Mississippi State over 14
innings...Hurled five-hit shutout over Northeast La., March 6 to pick up
first career victory...Also pitched three-hit shutout against Florida
International March 24...Also 6-for-16 at the plate with a double and an RBI.
High School: One of the best prospects to come out of Louisiana in quite a
while...Had nine no-hitters during senior year at Lafayette High...During
final season, had 21-3 record with 0.13 ERA, 274 strikeouts and allowed
only 35 hits in 156 innings...Named Miss Softball in Louisiana in 1998, as
well as All-Acadiana MVP...In ‘97, posted 0.41 ERA and hit .417...Once
struck out 26 batters in a 13 inning game.
Personal: Born Nov. 22, 1980 in Lafayette...Parents are Daryl and Kim
Barbato...Has two younger brothers and one younger sister...Majoring in
management...Played with Summar Lapeyrouse and Jessica Clarke at LHS.
