Louisiana's Gordon Named SBC Defensive Player of the Week

Former Cecilia High product helped lead Cajuns to 34-7 win at Charlotte
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana's Brent Gordon Jr., became the second player in as many weeks to be honored by the Sun Belt Conference when he was named on Monday at the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
The sophomore cornerback, who joined teammate Collin Jacob in earning SBC Defensive honors, recorded seven tackles with an interception, a tackle for loss, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in Louisiana's 34-7 win at Charlotte on Saturday.
Gordon added a 36-yard punt return for the Ragin' Cajuns and helped lead a defense that allowed its fewest total yards (137) since September 1, 2001 when UL allowed 57 yards of total offense against Nicholls.
On the season, Gordon has recorded 22 tackles with four tackles for loss, two interceptions, four pass breakups and has helped lead a defensive unit that has allowed one offensive touchdown in Louisiana's three wins on the season.
Louisiana (3-1) opens Sun Belt Conference play on Saturday (October 3) when it faces Arkansas State in the annual Homecoming Game at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be available on ESPN+.
