Cajuns Battle Back but Drop Series Finale to ULM

Louisiana trims margin late behind Kennedy Marceaux’s three-RBI day
MONROE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team kept battling all afternoon and chipped away at an early deficit, but a big first inning by ULM proved to be the difference as the Warhawks held on for a 7–5 win on Sunday, March 29 at the ULM Softball Complex to complete a sweep of the three-game SBC series.
Louisiana (20-16, 3-6 SBC) tallied 10 hits and twice fought back to tighten the margin, but ULM's five-run first inning ultimately created a gap the Ragin' Cajuns could not fully erase.
The Ragin' Cajuns wasted little time getting on the board in the top of the first. Mia Liscano opened the game with a bunt single and later scored on Kennedy Marceaux's RBI single. Haley Hart added a sacrifice fly to bring home Dayzja Williams and give Louisiana an early 2–0 lead.
ULM (22-17, 6-3 SBC) answered immediately, however, plating five runs in the bottom half of the inning highlighted by a three-run double from Hollie Thomas.
Louisiana continued to push back. Marceaux drove in another run with a double in the fourth inning to make it 6–3, and the Cajuns capitalized on defensive miscues in the sixth. Lily Knox delivered a pinch-hit RBI double down the left-field line and later scored on Marceaux's third RBI of the day to cut the deficit to 7–5.
The Ragin' Cajuns threatened late but could not find the final push, leaving the tying run on base in the seventh inning.
Marceaux led Louisiana offensively with three hits and three RBI, while Liscano and Brooke Otto each added two hits.
In the circle, Bethaney Noble worked three innings in relief and Julianne Tipton followed with three scoreless frames, striking out three and holding the Warhawks without a hit the rest of the way.

Louisiana returns to Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series with Troy over the Easter Weekend, the games scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, April 2-4.
The series opener is set for 4:00 p.m. on Thursday (April 2). Play continues Friday (April 3) at 6:00 p.m. and concludes on Saturday (April 4) with the series finale at 1:00 p.m.
The entire series will be televised on ESPN+ with Dan McDonald and Eric Mouton calling the action. Radio coverage is available on The GOAT 103.3 FM and 1420 AM in the Acadiana region and worldwide on Varsity Network with Cody Junot (pxp) and Bobby Neveaux (analyst) providing commentary.
On the closing day of the series, the UL Federal Credit Union will host a postgame Easter Egg hunt. Over 3,000 eggs will be hidden, including golden eggs with special prizes.
