Cajuns Fall In Final Seconds To Bulldogs, 32-31

Louisiana to host Troy on Saturday for Hall of Fame Weekend

Louisiana (4-2, 1-1 SBC) built a 24-13 lead in the third quarter and led 31-19 with over 11 minutes remaining, but Louisiana Tech (3-2, 1-0 SBC) scored twice in the final 3:44 to rally before a crowd of 20,035.

Louisiana Tech quarterback Blake Baker connected with Eli Finley on a 7-yard touchdown pass for the go-ahead score to cap an eight-play, 66-yard drive.

Louisiana had one final opportunity, but Lunch Winfield was intercepted with 19 seconds remaining, allowing the Bulldogs to run out the clock.

Winfield completed 14 of 24 passes for 239 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 34 yards and a score. KeDarius Wade caught two passes for 88 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown reception that gave Louisiana a 31-19 advantage with 11:34 remaining.

The Cajuns established control in the third quarter with a pair of rushing touchdowns. JJ Garner scored on a 20-yard run with 9:51 left in the period, and Trenton Chaney added a 25-yard touchdown run with 1:50 remaining to extend Louisiana's lead to 24-13.

Louisiana Tech began its fourth-quarter rally with a 3-yard touchdown run by Jalen Mickens at the 13:01 mark, cutting the deficit to 24-19. After Wade's touchdown reception restored a two-score advantage, Baker scored on a 12-yard run with 3:44 remaining to pull the Bulldogs within 31-26.

Baker completed 32 of 42 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns while adding 35 yards and a rushing score. Finley caught nine passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns, while Mickens finished with nine receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown.

Louisiana finished with 399 yards of total offense, including 160 rushing yards and 239 passing yards. Louisiana Tech totaled 485 yards, highlighted by 338 through the air.

Jake St. Andre recorded a career-high 14 tackles for Louisiana with Micah Johnson equaling his career-high with 10. Priest Ashe and Fitzgerald West Jr. each recovered fumbles for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Louisiana will return to SBC play on Saturday when it hosts Troy for Hall of Fame Weekend. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. with the game being televised on ESPN+.
