Louisiana To Face Marshall, JMU In 2025 SBC Cross-Divisional Games

NEW ORLEANS – A Sun Belt Conference Championship rematch against Marshall and a first-ever meeting with James Madison is part of the 2025 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football schedule as the Sun Belt Conference announced the cross-divisional opponents on Thursday.

Louisiana will host Marshall, Rice (August 30), in-state opponent McNeese (September 6), and SBC West Division rivals Southern Miss, Texas State, ULM at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium during the 2025 season.

The Ragin' Cajuns, who will travel to face Missouri (Sept. 13) and Eastern Michigan (Sept. 20) in non-conference road games, will visit James Madison and SBC West Division opponents Arkansas State, South Alabama and Troy.

The complete 2025 Sun Belt football schedule, including competition dates, will be released by no later than March 1, 2025.

The Sun Belt is coming off a 2024 campaign in which it defeated three autonomy conference foes—running its tally to 22 such victories since 2016 and 11 since 2022, when the league expanded to its current 14-member configuration. The Sun Belt also paced all non-autonomy conferences in Bowl Season representation for the third-straight year.

Each of the conference's 14 programs plays one home game and one away game against a cross-divisional foe each season—and will play every team in the opposite division at least once every four years. In addition to the two cross-divisional matchups, Sun Belt members play six divisional games annually, fostering regional rivalries amongst divisional foes.

With 14 member institutions in 10 contiguous states, the Sun Belt is committed to its identity as a regional conference with a divisional model.

Arkansas State – Georgia Southern, at App State
Louisiana – Marshall, at James Madison
ULM – Old Dominion, at Coastal Carolina
South Alabama – Coastal Carolina, at Georgia State
Southern Miss – App State, at Georgia Southern
Texas State – James Madison, at Marshall
Troy – Georgia State, at Old Dominion

EAST DIVISION
App State – Arkansas State, at Southern Miss
Coastal Carolina – ULM, at South Alabama
Georgia Southern – Southern Miss, at Arkansas State
Georgia State – South Alabama, at Troy
James Madison – Louisiana, at Texas State
Marshall – Texas State, at Louisiana
Old Dominion – Troy, at ULM
