LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball head coach Alyson Habetz announced on Thursday (August 1) the addition of infielder Brooke Otto (Smithville, Texas) to the program's roster for the 2025 season.

Otto joins the Ragin' Cajuns after beginning her collegiate career at McNeese, competing for the Cowgirls during the 2023 and 2024 seasons and helping produce back-to-back 40-win campaigns. She has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

"Brooke (Otto) brings tremendous athleticism and a high softball IQ to the field," Habetz remarked. "As a true utility player, she has played multiple positions and will certainly raise the level of competition on the diamond.

"Brooke will have the opportunity to compete on the dirt and in the grass," Habetz added. "We are excited that Brooke chose to join our Ragin' Cajuns family and we look forward to the impact she will make both on and off the field."

Otto appeared in 88 games, with 51 starts, during her two-year stay in Lake Charles. An infielder by trade, she covered the outfield for McNeese and tracked down 93 fly ball outs without error.

Through her first two collegiate seasons, Otto reached double figures in runs and hits in less than 100 plate appearances both seasons and owns eight career multiple-hit games.

Otto was a multi-sport athlete for Smithville (Texas) High School, competing in softball for her father, Wayne. A district MVP and academic all-district selection, Otto played multiple positions for Smithville including being an accomplished pitcher.
