Potgieter Earns All-Louisiana Men's Golf Honors for Second Straight Year

Sophomore named to second team in vote by state's golf SIDs
NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golfer Malan Potgieter earned All-Louisiana honors for the second consecutive year when the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) released its 2024 Men's and Women's Golf teams on Wednesday.

Potgieter, the 2023 LSWA Men's Freshman of the Year, was named to the second team in a vote by the state's golf sports information directors. The award was the second during the offseason for Potgieter, who was selected as a third-team member on the All-Sun Belt Conference Golf team.

Potgieter posted a 72.58 scoring average in 36 rounds of play for the Ragin' Cajuns during the 2023-24 campaign, tying with teammate Eli Ortego for scoring average and rounds.

He played in all 12 events for Louisiana during the season and recorded four top-20 finishes and one top-5.

Potgieter posted a team-high seven rounds in the 60's during the season, including a 5-under-67 in three events. He recorded 20 rounds of par or better on the season with his best finish coming at the Aggie Invitational where he placed fourth overall (3-over-219).

The Kirkwood, South Africa native placed in the top-20 in three straight events during the fall beginning at the GMAC Invitational (t20 - 216) with top-20 performances at the USF Invitational (t14 - 213) and Everett Buick GMC Classic (t13 - 213).
