Ragin’ Cajuns set for rematch with Baylor beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday
LAFAYETTE – Alexa Langeliers' leadoff triple set up Cecilia Vasquez's sacrifice fly in the eighth inning that lifted No. 13 national seed Louisiana to a 2-1 (8 inn.) win over Princeton on Saturday, May 18 in an elimination game at the NCAA Softball Lafayette Regional at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park.

When Langeliers scampered home with the game-winning run the Ragin' Cajuns (44-18) broke a tie that had existed since the two teams swapped single runs in the third inning.
Â
UL was in position to not only extend the game but win it in extra innings due to pitcher Chloe Riassetto's hold on the Tigers (30-18). Â
Â
Riassetto (8.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 K) faced the minimum over the final five innings getting key defensive plays along the way including a diving catch from Vasquez and an inning-ending double play in the sixth.
Â
The win advanced Louisiana to Championship Sunday of an NCAA Regional for the 16th consecutive postseason appearance, a streak that dates back to 2008.

The Ragin' Cajuns earned the right to have a rematch with Baylor (34-20) on Sunday, May 19 in the championship round of the NCAA Lafayette Regional beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Â
Louisiana would need two victories on Sunday to reach the super regional round for the second consecutive season and first time in back-to-back NCAA postseason appearances since 2015-16.
