Ragin’ Cajuns receive contributions throughout the lineup in dispatching SFA and UCA
CONWAY, Ark. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team found the breakaway moment in both games on Saturday, March 9 at the Milisa Moore Tournament at Farris Field in Conway, Arkansas, defeating Stephen F. Austin 11-0 (5 inn.) and Central Arkansas 7-4.
The sweep extended the Ragin' Cajuns win streak to three games and moved the squad's record back to the .500 mark on the season at 12-12.
Scoreless after two against SFA (5-17), Louisiana plated seven runs in the third inning to put away the Lumberkacks who were limited to a single hit by Sam Landry (5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 7 K). The uprising started with back-to-back run-scoring singles from Mihyia Davis and Maddie Hayden for a 3-0 edge and was capped off by Sophie Piskos' two-run home run.
An inning later, Sam Roe's sacrifice fly got the Cajuns to run-rule territory and a two-run triple from Kayla Falterman provided the exclamation point.
Seven different players combined for the 10-hit attack against SFA led by two-hit efforts from Davis, Hayden and Cecilia Vasquez. The trio of Hayden, Falterman and Piskos combined for six RBI.
Clinging to a 2-1 lead over UCA (6-14) in the fifth inning, Sam Roe powered a single off the glove of UCA third baseman Kylie Griffin that plated two runs. Two batters later it was Piskos lifting a two-run home run to left center increasing the lead to 6-1.
Chloe Riassetto (5.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 3 K) worked around a two-out bunt single to finish off a closing stretch where she retired six of the last seven UCA batters faced. Roe delivered again in the seventh, her RBI single providing a key tally as the Bears chipped away in the bottom half taking advantage of free passes to plate three runs.
UL received contributions throughout the lineup a second game with eight different players recording a hit led by Roe's 3-for-4 effort and another two-hit game from Davis.
Roe, Piskos and Alexa Langeliers, who opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the second, combined for the seven Cajuns RBI.
Piskos finished the two-game set with two home runs and tied Roe for the team lead with four RBI. The performance increased Piskos' team-leading season totals to five home runs and 17 RBI.
Louisiana and SFA met elsewhere besides Lamson Park for the first time since a March 1989 matchup in College Station, Texas. The Cajuns extended their series win streak to 12 games – all occurring in the 2000s.
UL and UCA met in Conway for the first time in the young series which is just four-games old and dates back to the 2014 season. The Cajuns improved to 4-0 against the Bears.

Louisiana faces repeat matchups with Stephen F. Austin and Central Arkansas on Sunday, March 10 to complete play in the Milisa Moore Tournament at Farris Field in Conway, Arkansas.
The Cajuns and Lumberjacks are scheduled to meet at 11:00 a.m., immediately followed by the rematch with the host-Bears at 1:30 p.m.
