Urchoeguia Named SBC Player of the Week

The junior had an undefeated week to become the first Cajun since 2022 to earn the award
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana - After an undefeated week on the court, Carla Urchoeguia was named Sun Belt Conference Conference Player of the Week. Urchoeguia went 2-0 in singles and won her finished doubles match, all on court one. The junior is the first Ragin' Cajun to earn the award since 2022 when she earned the award herself.
Urchoeguia and the Cajuns handed Stephen F. Austin their first loss of the season to start the week. The junior won her doubles contest handily 6-1 before earning a come-from-behind 0-6, 7-5, 6-4 win in singles.
She followed that with a thrilling 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 10-4 win on court one at Mississippi State to close the week. She was tied in doubles, 4-4, with partner Angelique Berrat on court one before their match went undecided against the Bulldogs.
