Louisiana Athletics Encouraging Support To App State Disaster Relief Fund

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Athletics is encouraging its fans, supporters and members of the Lafayette and Acadiana community to assist in donating to the Appalachian State Disaster Relief Fund after the devastating effects to the university caused last week by Hurricane Helene.

The Mountaineer community is hurting from the impacts of Hurricane Helene, with App State students, faculty and staff experiencing significant hardships. Fans are encouraged to donate by accessing the App State Disaster Relief Fund.

In football, Louisiana will host App State in an upcoming Sun Belt Conference game on Oct. 12 at Cajun Field.

Louisiana, which hosted App State last week in women's soccer, announced its two-match Sun Belt Conference volleyball series scheduled for this weekend against the Mountaineers in Boone was canceled and will not be made up.

The volleyball matches between Louisiana and App State join a number of prior cancellations or postponements across multiple sports from Sept. 27-29 due to the impacts of Helene in both Boone and Statesboro, Ga.
