Meet the January RCAF Investor of the Month, Marius Haydel!
Born-and-raised in Metairie, LA, Marius Haydel is a proud graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School. Marius accepted a football scholarship on behalf of USL which led him to begin his college career in Lafayette, LA. Upon graduating from USL and a short stint as a managing bartender at one of Lafayette's local restaurants, Pete's, Marius began his career with Farm Bureau Insurance companies and is currently completing his 30th year of service. He is happily married to his wife, Shellie Haydel, and blessed with two wonderful stepdaughters, two awesome sons in laws and six beautiful grandchildren.
Marius says that choosing to give back to the university and RCAF is a no-brainer for him. He is a strong believer in blessing the people and organizations that have given him the opportunity and knowledge to succeed, as well as put him in the financial position to do so. One of his favorite mottos in life is to never forget where you came from or the path that got you to where you are today.
As a former USL football player, Marius' most memorable Louisiana Athletics moment was the last-second field goal that he and his team made against Southern Miss. which handed Brett Favre a homecoming game loss. Marius says one of his favorite moments as a Ragin' Cajuns fan is a tossup between the Cajuns beating Texas A&M at Cajun Field, and Louisiana's first bowl game win inside the Superdome during Hudspeth's era. In reflecting on his journey, Marius remains a steadfast supporter of his alma mater, embodying the spirit of gratitude and loyalty that defines both his personal and professional life.
