Ragin’ Cajuns Wrap Up Day Two in Texas

SAN MARCOS, Tx./AUSTIN, Tx. – Competing against some of the best in the country, the Louisiana track and field team wrapped up their second day of action splitting time between the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas and the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, 30 miles away.  

 

Facing some of the best in the country at the Texas Relays, the Ragin' Cajuns were right in the thick of the competition.  The day was highlighted by the men's sprint medley relay team of Trejun Jones, Chris Gravois, Javed Jones and Joseph Patterson placing sixth (3:20.49).  On the women's side Jacqueline Pokuaah had the best finish of the day, taking 11th in the long jump (5.89 meters).

 

Maria Bienvenu had another great showing in the women's javelin, throwing a distance of 47.37 meters to finish 13th.  The other events represented by the Cajuns were relays.  The men's 4x100 team, Jamhad Booth, Kashie Crockett, Chris Gravois, Trejun Jones, took 14th with a time of 39.88 seconds.  In the men's 4x400 relay the Cajuns took 25th, running it in 3:11.46.  The women's 4x100 relay squad of Kennedy London, Ta'La Spates, Mari Robinson and Kiana Foster took 26th (45.90) while Spates, Lawryn Noel, Moseisha Bridgen and Alexandra Johnson took home 28th in the 4x400 relay (3:45.63).

 

Down the road in San Marcos the Cajuns had three top-10 finishes among six events.  Kaiden Burgess had the highest finish, taking seventh in the men's javelin with a distance of 58.55 meters.  In the women's javelin, Hollie Stewart placed 11th with her throw of 38.10 meters.  

 

In the A section of the men's long jump Obdarius Ware's leap of 7.38 meters placed him ninth while in the section B event, Joshua Mason also placed ninth with his jump of 6.86 meters.  The Cajuns closed the day in the 200 meter dash.  Lawyrn Noel recorded a time of 24.69 seconds to place 36th in the women's event.  On the men's side, Warrick Baker took 28th (21.50) while Brock Appiah's time of 21.91 placed him 37th.

 

Louisiana closes their Texas trip tomorrow.
