Darren Walker Voted as SBC Video Coordinator of the Year

Walker, who won the award last season, has been honored in three of the last five years
LAFAYETTE, La. – University of Louisiana's Darren Walker was voted by his peers as the Sun Belt Video Coordinator of the Year for the second consecutive season and third in the last five years, the Collegiate Sports Video Association announced Monday.

Walker is now a finalist for the prestigious Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year award, which will be announced at the annual CSVA banquet on May 10th, 2023 in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Bob Matey award is presented to the Video Coordinator who displays innovation, determination, perseverance and technical skill as portrayed by the late Bob Matey, legendary Video Coordinator from Texas A&M.

Walker is currently in his 23rd year overseeing the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football program's video operations. He is the longest tenured video coordinator in the Sun Belt Conference and one of the longest tenured in the nation.

He and his staff are responsible for providing practice, game, workout, opponent and NFL video for coaches and players via Catapult Thunder software. They have built an archive that spans 12 years of content. Other responsibilities include providing technical support, statistical analysis and producing weekly motivational videos as well as clock operation and playing music at practice.

During his time in Lafayette, Walker has worn several hats for the athletics department. He hosted the "Inside Louisiana Athletics" television show, served as the department's creative video specialist in the early days of social media and produced in-game scoreboard videos for football.

Prior to joining the Ragin' Cajuns program, Walker spent five years at KATC-TV, where he was a videographer, producer, sports reporter and anchor.

A native of Chalmette, Louisiana, Walker graduated from Lynn Oaks High School and the University of Louisiana (formerly University of Southwestern Louisiana), earning a degree in Liberal Arts - Mass Communications in 1996.

He is married to the former Michelle Ciaccio and they are the parents of two children, Hannah, a Louisiana graduate, and Vance, a current student at Louisiana.
