Gillie Named to Lombardi Award Midseason Watch List

Gillie has started in every game this season at left guard
HOUSTON – Louisiana football's AJ Gillie was named to the Lombardi Award Midseason Watch List, it was announced Tuesday.
Gillie was one of 100 players, and just one of four from the Sun Belt, selected to the midseason watch list that will compete for the coveted award, given annually to the college football offensive or defensive lineman who exemplifies the character of NFL Hall of Fame head coach Vince Lombardi in addition to outstanding performance and ability.
The Natchitoches, Louisiana, native has started in all six games this season at left guard and has anchored the offensive line that has helped Louisiana gain 224.0 yards per game on the ground, which ranks seventh nationally.
Gillie has been the highest-graded offensive lineman for the Ragin' Cajuns on numerous occasions including a 94-percent grade with four knockdowns at Minnesota.
The Louisiana offensive line was recently named a unit of interest by the Joe Moore Award, which is given to the most outstanding offensive line in college football.
Gillie and the Ragin' Cajuns are back in action for Homecoming on Oct. 21 against Georgia State at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
