Flynn's Hot Start Leads Louisiana at Turning Stone Intercollegiate

Louisiana paired with Towson, Boston College in final round of 54-hole event

VERONA, N.Y. Charlie Flynn posted a pair of rounds in the 60's and finished four shots off the individual lead as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team opened its season on Sunday in the Turning Stone Intercollegiate at Turning Stone Resort.
 
Louisiana posted identical team rounds of 4-over 292 to sit in fourth place at 584 in the 11-team field after 36 holes. Host Missouri held the first-day lead at 19-under 557 with Stetson (572), Delaware (576), Louisiana and Towson (585) rounding out the top five.
 
Flynn, with 13 career rounds in the 60's entering the season, opened the day with a 4-under-par 68 in the opening round on the par-72, 6,882-yard course before coming back to post a 3-under 69 in the afternoon.
 
Starting on the back nine, Flynn carded a 33 heading into the turn in the first round before posting a 32 on the front – highlighted by an eagle on the par-5, 556-yard No. 6 – in the second.
 
Freshman Malan Potgieter posted rounds of 72 and 76 in his collegiate debut for Louisiana with Jake Marler (76-73-149), Eli Ortego (76-75-151) and Matt Weber (80-75-155) following for the Ragin' Cajuns.
 
Jack Lundin of Missouri posted rounds of 65 and 68 to finish at 11-under 133 to claim the first-day lead. Stetson's Matt Gauntlett finished three strokes back in second place after rounds of 67 and 69.
 
The final round of the 54-hole event will take place on Monday beginning at 7 a.m. CDT. Live results are available at GolfStat.com.
