Louisiana Track and Field's Relays Shine in Starkville

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Track and Field's men's and women's 4x100m relay teams both claimed first at the Maroon and White Invitational on Saturday.

The women's foursome of Kennedy London, Shemia Odaine, Johneisha George and Kiana Foster finished in 44.86, while the men's team of Caemon Scott, Kashie Crockett, Trejun Jones, Brock Appiah topped the podium in 40.49.

Louisiana earned a one-two finish in the javelin as Marin Barras stood atop the field with throws of 48.29 and 44.24, respectively. Freshman Blaire Lefluer finished fourth with a mark of 42.84m.

Trejun Jones also claimed a top finish for the first time this season. Jones raced across the finish line in the 100m with a personal-best time of 10.30.

Yves Cherubin notched first in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.77. The victory marked Cherubins first in the event since taking the race at the Louisiana Classics.

On Friday, Louisiana swept the podium in the 5k with Louden Boudreaux (15:25.54), Peyton Chiasson (15:52.42), Saumal Avants (15:58.33) and Justin Unger (16:42.00), finishing one through four, respectively.

Sophie Daigle broke her second school record of the outdoor season as the senior cruised to first in the 5k with a time of 17:18.19.

Louisiana will now turn its attention to the Sun Belt Championships which will be hosted May 12-14 at the Home Bank Track and Soccer Facility.
