Junior extended hit streak to 14 games in series win over ULM

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns third baseman/outfielder Tyler Robertson was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Robertson went a combined 7-for-13 (.538) at the plate after collecting hits in all three games of Louisiana's series last weekend against ULM. The junior recorded three doubles, a triple, six RBI and four stolen bases during the week with a .600 on-base percentage and .923 slugging percentage as the Ragin' Cajuns took two of three games against the Warhawks.

The Montgomery, Ala., native nearly hit for the cycle in Thursday's 14-2 win going 4-for-5 at the plate with a single, two doubles and a triple while driving in four runs with a stolen base. Robertson was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base on Friday and picked up a first-inning single in Saturday's finale to record the longest hitting streak since Hayden Cantrelle and Todd Lott in 2019.

Louisiana (20-15) returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Baton Rouge to face No. 22/23 LSU in a 6:30 p.m. game at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
