Nikol Dobrilova Excited for New Chapter with the Ragin’ Cajuns

Dobrilova enters her first season at Louisiana after transferring from Purdue
With offers from every tennis program in the Sun Belt Conference, Nikol Dobrilova has chosen to call the University of Louisiana home.
Originally from Bulgaria, Dobrilova moved to Valencia, Spain, when she was young.
She found her way to West Lafayette, Indiana, and attended Purdue University for her freshman year of college. Dobrilova cites an honest conversation with Ragin' Cajuns Women's Tennis head coach Stephanie Vallejos as the main reason for her move down south.
"Louisiana is way better," Dobrilova. "Everything is provided here and the weather is so much nicer."
Before starting tennis at 11, Dobrilova participated in track and volleyball. Her driving factor to pursue tennis was the internal competition to always be better than the day before.
Her tennis style has always been different from her technique for other sports.
While she has always used her left hand to play basketball or volleyball, she uses her right hand to play tennis.
Dobrilova's tennis career has brought her all over the world.
"There's an app that you can use to check off which countries you've visited, so apparently I've been to 44% of the world," Dobrilova said. "My favorite, though, has to be Spain, Switzerland, or Singapore."
Through her travels, she's also picked up seven languages, including: English, Spanish, Bulgarian, Russian, Macedonian, Korean, and Serbian.
Dobrilova is pursuing a degree in video game programming. Although she plans on continuing her tennis career after college, she is excited to get started on her professional career.
When she isn't studying or playing tennis, Dobrilova enjoys spending time with her teammates.
She claims that the team spends "too much time together" and she is thankful to finally be a part of a group that gets along so well.
