Louisiana Holds Steady in National Rankings

LAFAYETTE – Despite not playing this past weekend, Louisiana Football remained in the national rankings after checking in at No. 17 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 18 in the USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll.

With the release of the new polls, the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game is guaranteed to be played between two ranked teams after Coastal Carolina checked in at No. 9 in the AP Poll and No. 12 in the Coaches Poll.

The team last played on Dec. 4, when it defeated Appalachian State for the first time in program history. With the win, the team has defeated every Sun Belt program under head coach Billy Napier.

No. 17 Louisiana now shifts its focus to the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 19, against No. 11 Coastal Carolina. The title game is slated to kickoff at 2:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN.
