Louisiana Softball ranked inside the Top 20 of both major polls
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Softball is set to begin the 2019 season, which is just over one week away, in the national rankings of both major polls.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and USA Softball have released their preseason national polls, with Louisiana ranked among the Top 20 by both voting panels.

The Ragin' Cajuns are ranked No. 15 in the preseason USA Today/NFCA poll and No. 18 in the preseason ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.

Louisiana is preseason ranked in the USA Today/NFCA poll for the 16th straight season (2004-19). The Ragin' Cajuns have now been ranked in every preseason version of the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, which debuted in 2006.

The 2019 season, the second the for Ragin' Cajuns under the guidance of head coach Gerry Glasco, begins on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 5 p.m. vs. Fordham at Lamson Park in the opening contest of the Ragin' Cajuns Classic.

Louisiana, in search of a 21st consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, returns seven starters from its 2018 season-ending lineup, headlined by All-Sun Belt selections Alissa Dalton and Kara Gremillion, veteran catcher Lexie Comeaux and pitcher Summer Ellyson. In the offseason, a talented group of newcomers was assembled, highlighted by outfielders Keeli Milligan and Sarah Hudek of Texas A&M and power hitter Bailey Curry of Toledo.

• Season tickets, beginning at $100, are available online at RaginCajuns.com using Account Manager, by calling the Louisiana Athletics Ticket Office at (337) 265-2170 or by visiting the ticket office in person Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and extended hours during Ragin' Cajuns basketball events
• Fans who purchase season tickets receive priority access for any potential NCAA postseason games held at Lamson Park.
