@RaginCajunsFB Opens Up Conference Play With Coastal Carolina

Louisiana and Coastal Carolina meet for the first time in history, in what is both team's conference opener
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Football returns to Cajun Field with its Sun Belt Conference opener when on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. (ESPN+) the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers make their first visit to Lafayette, Louisiana in what is the first matchup between the two schools in either program's history.

FLIP ON ESPN+/TUNE INTO ESPN1420:Â ESPN+ will broadcast the game and Dan McDonald (PxP) will be joined by Gerald Broussard (color) in the booth to provide the commentary for the game.

As for the on the radio, the familiar voices of Jay Walker (PxP), Chris Lanaux (color) and Cody Junot (sideline) will call the game on ESPN1420 and KHXT 107.9 FM. For Walker it will be the 297th Louisiana Football game he has called as he inches closer to the 300th game milestone that he should reach on Oct. 13, when the Ragin' Cajuns host New Mexico State on Homecoming.

FIRST TIME FOR A SECOND TIME: Louisiana and Coastal Carolina have never faced each other on the gridiron, with Coastal in only its second year of playing football in the Sun Belt, having only made the jump to the Football Bowl Subdivision level two years ago. Louisiana will make its first trip to Conway, South Carolina during the 2019 season.

This will be the 21st time in Ragin' Cajuns history that Louisiana has played two schools for the first time in either program's history during the same season.Â

ACURATE NUNEZ: Senior quarterback Andre Nunez is among one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the country, with his 78.4 completion percentage ranking him second in the FBS. Nunez already broke a 21-year old school record when he went 19 for 22 against Grambling to finish with a completion percentage of 86.4 percent, setting a new single-game school record for completion percentage.
RELIEF FOR COASTAL: Louisiana Athletics is sending relief supplies home with Coastal Carolina after Saturday's game, and the Ragin' Cajuns are encouraging all supporters in Lafayette and the Acadiana area to help.
The Chanticleers are saving space in their football equipment truck for the following items: bottled water, nonperishable food items, paper products and cleaning supplies. The Ragin' Cajuns intend to send Coastal Carolina home with a full payload. All additional items will be donated to the American Red Cross.

Beginning Friday (Noon to 6 p.m.), those making donations are asked to drop items at Gate 2 of the Cajun Field parking lots (adjacent to Bertrand Drive).

On Game Day Saturday, fans can donate supplies at four different locations around the Cajun Field parking lots (Gates 1, 2, 3 and 4), beginning three hours prior to kickoff (3-6 p.m.). Members of Louisiana's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be on-hand Friday and Saturday to accept and organize supplies.Â
TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE: Both individual tickets and season tickets for Louisiana home games are available for purchase by either heading to ragincajuns.com/tickets or by calling the Louisiana Athletics Ticket Office at the CAJUNDOME, (337) 265-2357, or by visiting the office in person. Â

Nunez has thrown for 408 yards this season and the senior has tossed three touchdowns, with at least one coming in both games the Cajuns have played so far this season. Nunez entered the game against Mississippi State, on Sept. 15, having completed his last 13 straight passes and after completing his first eight in Starkville, Mississippi, he had a streak of 22 straight passes before finally throwing an incomplete pass.?? Nunez is second in the nation (IN THE NATION!) in completion percentage.
