No. 21 Louisiana piles up 15 runs against Fordham, sets up rematch with Houston in Baton Rouge Regional
Louisiana (39-15) fought off elimination in the regional and advanced to face Houston (37-21) at 5 p.m. for a spot in the championship round against top-seeded and 11th-ranked Louisiana State on Sunday.
The Ragin' Cajuns plated at least four runs in three of their five at bats, highlighted by a six-run fifth inning that saw Lexie Comeaux, Casidy Chaumont and Brittany Rodriguez each tally two RBI allowing Louisiana to put the game out of reach.
Comeaux and Chaumont both finished with a game-high three RBI. Every starter in the Ragin' Cajuns lineup had at least one hit as the squad generated a postseason-high 13 hits.
Senior pitcher Kylee Jo Trahan (6-1) tossed four innings of scoreless relief after Fordham had trimmed the Louisiana lead to 4-3 in the first inning. Trahan struck out three and held the Rams to a single hit.
