LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Basketball (2-5, 0-0 SBC) returns to the CAJUNDOME after spending the past three games on the road when, for the first time since 2014, the Sam Houston State Bearkats (4-3, 0-0 SLC) visit the CAJUNDOME, for a Saturday, Dec. 8, 2 p.m. game.

HOW TO WATCH/LISTEN/FOLLOW: On television, the game will be covered by Cox Sports TV, and the broadcast will be tape delayed and will run on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m.  Dan McDonald (play-by-play) and Lawana Stokes (analyst) will handle the announcing duties on CST, while on ESPN1420, Steve Peloquin will handle the radio call.

REVIEWING THE PREVIOUS GAME: Louisiana went to the Texas Rio Grande Valley: Battle on the Border and dropped both games over the weekend.  Losing first, to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (64-63) and wrapping up the weekend with a loss to the hosting UT Rio Grande Valley (75-60).

During the weekend, sophomore center Ty'Reona Doucet was solid, recording another double-double, 12 points and 11 rebounds, against AMCC and she averaged 14.0 points per game over the two-game stretch.

Against AMCC Louisiana had five players score in double-figures for the first time since 2017, with sophomore guard Skyler Goodwin leading the way with 13 points.  Doucet added 12, while sophomore guard Jomyra Mathis and freshmen guards Diamond Morrison and Andrea Cournoyer each scored 10 points.

Louisiana had three score in double-figures against UTRGV, with Doucet leading the way with 16 points.  Freshmen guard Brandi Williams and Morrison each scored 13 points in the game as well, with Morrison adding had a career-high six assists in the game against UTRGV.

DOUCET GRABS ANOTHER RECORD: Doucet opened the season with six straight double-doubles, including grabbing a school-record 22 rebounds against McNeese State (Nov. 11).  The six-straight double-doubles ties a school record for most consecutive double-doubles (Yolanda Jones, 2007) and the six-straight double-doubles is the best double-double streak to start a season in program history.

DOUCET RANKS NATIONALLY: Doucet sits in the Top-15 nationally in three different categories.  She is sixth in double-doubles and sits only one double-double behind the national-high of seven double-doubles.  On the glass, Doucet sits ninth in the country in defensive rebounds per game (9.0) and 13th in the nation in rebounds per game (12.4).  Her 22 rebounds performance against McNeese State (Nov. 11) still sits as the second-best performance in the country so far this season.

FRESHMEN HAVE BEEN BUSY: So far this season, Louisiana's four freshmen have played key parts on the court.  Williams is second on the team in points per game, averaging 11.0 points per game and forward Jazmyn Womack is fourth on the team in rebounds per game averaging 3.9 rebounds per game.

When considering the team totals, Louisiana's freshmen have averaged 30.7 points per game total, which is roughly half of the 66.6 points per game that the Ragin' Cajuns are averaging as a team and the four freshmen are shooting .371 percent playing a key part in Louisiana's team total of .405 shooting percentage.

WHAT THE BEARKATS BRING:  Sam Houston State enters the weekend having won its last two games, taking down St. Thomas (Texas) 94-46 in the last game it played.  Sam Houston State has scored at least 100 points in two games this season.  They reached the mark against Jarvis Christian, 100-55, and against Wiley College, 101-63.

As a team the Bearkats are shooting 45 percent from the field and scoring an average of 78 points per game.  Player wise, the Bearkats have three players scoring in double-digits, with Jaylonn Walker leading the way with 15.0 points per game.  Jenniffer Oramas is averaging 13.4 points per game and Amber Leggett is scoring at a clip of 10.7 points per game, with Leggett coming off the bench.

Oramas leads the team in assists, moving the ball around at an average of 4.7 assists per game and Walker is right behind Oramas averaging 3.1 assists per game.  Coming off the bench, Leggett is leading the team in shooting percentage, shooting .675 percent to lead the team.

A strong three-point shooting team, averaging .302 percent, Leggett is once again leading the way there shooting .333 percent from beyond the arc.  Walker is leading the team in three-point attempts (37) and makes (10) shooting .270 percent.
