NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana Women's Basketball sophomore Skyler Goodwin was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Third Team, while the Ragin' Cajuns were picked to finish seventh in the Sun Belt Conference as the conference released its 2018-19 Coaches' Preseason Poll and Preseason All-Conference teams on Wednesday.

GOODWIN GETS THE NOD: Goodwin finished the 2017-18 season as the leader in scoring, averaging 9.6 points per game and minutes, averaging 32.0 minutes per game.  She also finished high in the conference overall statistics as well, coming in at 10th in the conference in minutes and 11th in steals per game (1.5 spg).

It's not Goodwin's first conference award in her career having gotten named to the SBC Women's Basketball All-Tournament Team following the 2018 SBC Women's Basketball Championships.

In the three games that Louisiana played in, Goodwin averaged 17.7 points per game, shot 58 percent from the field, averaged 2.3 steals per game and hauled in 5.7 rebounds per game.  During Louisiana's triple-overtime win against Georgia Southern, in the First Round, Goodwin dropped 28 points which was the tournament game high.

SEVENTH PLACE PREDICTION: In the Coaches' Preseason Poll, Louisiana was selected to finish seventh out of the 12 teams in the conference, receiving 75 points.  Little Rock got the first-place nod (133 pts.), Troy was picked second (131 pts.) and Texas State (97 pts.) and UT Arlington (97 pts.) came in tied for third to round out the top three.

Arkansas State (95 pts.) and South Alabama (78 pts.) were the last two schools picked to finish above Louisiana.  Below the Ragin' Cajuns, are Coastal Carolina at eighth (72 pts.) and Appalachian State sitting ninth (67 pts.).

Coming in tied for 10th are the Georgia schools with Georgia Southern (39 pts.) and Georgia State (39 pts.) each receiving the same number of votes.  Coming in last is ULM with just 13 points, to finish off the Coaches' Preseason Poll.

THE SEASON IS ALMOST HERE: Louisiana tips-off its 2018-19 season on Thursday, Nov. 1 with an exhibition game at home against LSU-Shreveport, with that game scheduled to tip at 6:30 p.m. and be broadcast nationally on Cox Sports TV.  The regular season gets started on Tuesday, Nov. 6 when Lamar comes into the Cajundome for a 5 p.m. tip.  The Ragin' Cajuns first road trip will be to Lake Charles, La., on Sunday, Nov. 11 when they help McNeese State open up its new arena with a 2 p.m. tip.
