Louisiana Golf Finishes Tenth At Lone Star Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team fell three spots in the final round of the Lone Stone Invitational on Tuesday to finish in tenth place with a 54-hole score of 4-over par (868) at the par-72, 7,247-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Course.

Senior Fernando Cruz Valle was the lone bright spot for the Ragin' Cajuns in the final round carding a score of 70 (-2) to finish in a tie for 23rd at 2-under (214). The top 25 finish is the 22nd of Cruz Valle's career and his fourth this season.

No. 15 Oklahoma stormed its way to a team title shooting a final round score of 21-under (267) to pass up No. 7 Illinois by four strokes with a three-round score of 40-under (824). The Illini (-36, 828), Mississippi State (-27, 837), UTEP (-22, 842) and UTSA (-17, 847) round out the top 5 teams.

Oklahoma's Max McGreevy held on to win the individual title with a score of 20-under (196).

Freshman Aron Juliusson finished in a tie for 41st at 1-over (217), while Ragnar Gardarsson was two strokes back in a tie for 45th at 3-over (219). Triston Elston (T-57, +6) and Thomas Strandemo (T-61, +8) rounded out the scoring for the Cajuns.

Louisiana returns to action in two weeks at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship hosted April 3-4 at the Old Waverly Golf Course in West Point, Miss.
