BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team battled back on the final day of the David Toms Intercollegiate to finish in a tie with Louisiana Tech for fifth place at 50-over par (914) on Sunday at the par-72, 7,220-yard University Club.

"It was good to see the team come away with a result despite getting off to a poor start yesterday," head coach Theo Sliman said. "This team really can be dangerous if we can play the type of golf that we are capable of from start to finish. We still have plenty of work to do to get to that point. I know that we haven't come close to showing our best this fall."

LSU was the wire-to-wire champion with a score of 11-under (853). North Texas (+24, 888), McNeese (+27, 891), South Alabama (+33, 897), Louisiana (+50, 914) and Louisiana Tech (+50, 914) round out the top 5 teams.

There was a four-way tie for individual medalist honors with Brandon Pierce, Eric Richard, Luis Gagne and Sam Burns of LSU each finishing the event with a 54-hole score of 1-under (215).

Freshman Aron Juliusson notched his second top 25 finish of the season placing in a tie for 22nd at 11-over (227). Senior Ragnar Gardarsson had the best round of the day notching a score of 75 (+3) to end the tournament in a tie for 26th at 12-over (228).

Fernando Cruz Valle finished in a tie for 36th after carding a three-round score of 15-over (231), while Triston Elston came in 41st place at 17-over (233).

Both Thomas Strandemo and Grant Welch rounded out the scoring for Louisiana in a tie for 59th at 24-over (240).

"We have one more tournament before the break, and we need to get back to work and continue to learn and apply and get better," Sliman said. "The key to that is team unity and that's going to take seniors stepping up and taking control of the program."

The Cajuns return to action later this month when they head to Princeville, Hawaii for the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational on Oct. 31-Nov. 2.
