Cajuns Tennis Drops 5-1 Decision at McNeese State

LAKE CHARLES, La. -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team suffered their first loss of the season, as they fell at McNeese State by a 5-1 final on Wednesday afternoon.

Cajuns (2-1) sophomore Abby Johnson earned Louisiana's lone win in third singles, defeating Hanna Brett, 6-4, 6-4. Johnson improved to 3-0 in singles play this season with the victory.

All six matches went two sets on the afternoon. McNeese State's Klaudia Gawlik defeated Louisiana sophomore Kelly Drew, 6-3, 6-1 in first singles. Giovanna Florietti won in straight sets over UL sophomore Elena Sava, 7-5, 6-3 in No. 2 singles.

Singles 4-through-6 went to the Cowgirls as Sarah Jurakova (6-2, 6-4 over senior Melissa Burckhartt), Vivien Borbely (6-4, 6-4 over senior Juliette Clement) and Charoline Erlandsson (6-2, 7-6 over junior Alexandra Way) each came out victorious to take the match, 5-1.

Louisiana will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 6 for a noon first serve at Southeastern from Hammond, La.
