LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball and softball programs set new season ticket records heading into the start of the 2015 season, Director of Athletics Scott Farmer announced on Wednesday.

"This is obviously a product of the great seasons each program had a year ago," Farmer said. "Being able to host regionals and super regionals at our campus facilities was a fun time for all of our fans, and it doesn't surprise me that those fans have turned around and bought season tickets. I think it's a true measure of where our programs stand nationally and how great our fans are."

Currently there have been 2,401 baseball season tickets sold besting the mark of 2,365 set in 2011, while 693 softball season tickets have been purchased passing the previous mark of 636 set in 2013.

"I can't thank the fans enough," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "The only thing we can try to do is to get out on the field and play as hard as we can. I've always said that you can copy a lot of things that we have, but you can't copy our fans. We have a very unique atmosphere at our stadium and 90-percent of it comes from our fans and season ticket holders."

The Cajuns ranked ninth in the nation in total home baseball attendance averaging 3,831 per game in 2014. Softball ranked sixth in the country in attendance averaging 1,364 fans per contest.

"We have the greatest softball fans in the country for sure," head coach Michael Lotief said. "The success of this softball program can be directly related to our great fan support. Home field advantage truly matters; and last year we proved it by finally getting to host Super-Regionals.  Our fans are our energy and our confidence and our momentum and our fight. By increasing season ticket sales, it directly helps this softball program raise more revenue and thus have the opportunities to continue to compete against the powerhouses around the country."

There are still plenty of season tickets available for both baseball and softball. Fans interested can purchase tickets either by going online to RaginCajuns.com, by stopping by the Cajundome Box Office from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by calling (337) 265-2100.

The softball squad is set to open the 2015 campaign on Friday, Feb. 6 at Lamson Park against N.C. State at 3 p.m. Ragin' Cajuns baseball opens its home slate on Friday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. in the first of a three-game series against Stony Brook at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
