Argent Financial Classic Final Results

CHOUDRANT, La.
– Sophomore Haraldur Magnus posted a final round score of even-par (72) to notch his first ever top 10 performance on Tuesday finishing in a tie for sixth at 2-over (146) in the shorted Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club.

Magnus carded three birdies and 12 pars in the final 18 holes with all three birdies coming in the last five holes.

"I'm very proud and happy of Haraldur and the way he performed this week," head coach Theo Sliman said. "He really is developing this spring and producing the numbers that we expect of him. He has been close in a lot of tournaments but hasn't been able to close one out till now. I expect to see him close out strong more the rest of this spring."

Teammate Thomas Strandemo also had a strong final round carding one of the five under-par rounds of the day with a 71 (-1) to place in a tie 13th at 5-over (149).

"Thomas is a grinder, and he really fought hard today," Sliman noted. "He fended off some mishaps that really could have send his round in the opposite direction. He has showed up in the final round the last two tournaments. I can't wait to see him show up for three straight rounds."

Joining Strandemo in a tie for 13th was Christian Verrougstraete who had a final round score of 3-over (75).

The Cajuns finished the tournament in fifth place with a 36-hole score of 22-over (598) after shooting 6-over (294) in the final round.

North Texas won the team championship at 10-over (586) carding a final round score of 4-over (292). Louisiana Tech (+12. 588), Sam Houston State (+18, 594), Southeastern Louisiana (+21, 597) and Louisiana (+22, 598) rounded out the top 5 finishers.

"Our team isn't quite clicking on all cylinders," Sliman added. "It's a matter of getting all five guys to play together and to their potential. We haven't seen it yet this spring, but there is still a lot of golf to be played. I'm sure we will see it before the season is over."

Pep Angles of Central Arkansas held on to win the individual championship with a final score of 2-under (142).

Fernando Cruz Valle and Ross Davis closed out the scoring for Louisiana finishing in a tie for 41st at 12-over (156).
