Magnus Places Fifth At David Toms Intercollegiate

BATON ROUGE, La. – Ragin' Cajuns junior golfer Haraldur Magnus carded a final round score of 1-under par (71) to finish the David Toms Intercollegiate in a tie for fifth at 7-over (223) on Sunday at the University Club. The top 10 finish is the sixth of Magnus' career and second of the season.

As a team, Louisiana fell to a tie for eighth with No. 38 Iowa State after registering a score of 14-over (302) to finish with a three-round score of 55-over (919).

No. 4 LSU grabbed the team title with a 54-hole score of 27-over (891) posting a 7-over (295) in the final round to edge out Southeastern Louisiana by two strokes. The Lions (+29, 893), Mercer (+38, 902), No. 34 Winthrop (+45, 909) and Central Arkansas rounded out the top 5 teams.

Benjamin Taylor of LSU held on to take individual medalist honors with a 71 (-1) in the final 18 holes to finish with a score of 2-under (214).

Sophomore Fernando Cruz Valle placed in the top 25 for the eighth time in his career ending the tournament in a tie for 13th at 10-over (226).

Thomas Strandemo finished in a tie for 45th at 19-over (235), while Ross Davis was just one stroke back in a tie for 47th. Louis Kelly capped the scoring for the Cajuns in a tie for 54th at 25-over (241).

Freshman Paul San notched his third consecutive round of 78 to finish in a tie for 40th as an individual at 18-over (234).

The Ragin' Cajuns close out the fall season next week as they head to Bryan, Texas for the Miramont Invitational hosted by Rice.
