LAFAYETTE, La. – Freshmen Juliette Clement and Melissa Burckhartt became the first Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis doubles team to earn a ITA national ranking in well over a decade, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Tuesday.
“We are really proud of their efforts and they are very deserving of this ranking,” head coach Greg Harkins said. “Melissa and Juliette have worked very hard to get where they are, and they are both team players. They give complete effort each time out and that has paid off for them this year.”
Clement and Burckhartt are ranked 79th in the latest ITA Division I Women's National Doubles Rankings. The duo is perfect on the spring in doubles play with a 13-0 record.
The team avoided having their win streak snapped against UNO on March 1 as the pair outlasted Marta Sans and Fanny Benincasa, 9-7.
The Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis continues its nine-match homestand on March 29 with a 2 p.m. match against conference foe Arkansas State at Cajun Courts.
