BOCA RATON, Fla. – The sixth ranked Louisiana softball team used a seven run second inning to defeat Western Kentucky Friday morning, 12-1 in five innings to advance to the championship of the winner's bracket in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla.

The Ragin' Cajuns (48-3) will play tonight against the winner of the game between No. 3 seed FIU and No. 4 seed North Texas. Game time is tentatively set for 5:30 p.m. CT, but will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the preceding game.

The Cajuns pushed a run across in the top of the first as Myers and Haack stood on the corners with two outs and completed a double steal attempt to score Myers from third for the 1-0 lead.

UL came back with a seven spot in the top of the second on four hits, sending 11 hitters to the plate to build an 8-0 advantage.

Cormier led off the frame with a solo shot to left field for the second run of the contest. The Cajuns then loaded the bases with one out for Myers, who lined a base hit to left field, plating Sarah Draheim. Haack stepped to the dish two batters later with two outs and the bags filled and hit a bases clearing double to right center for a six-run lead. Cherry rounded out the inning with a two-run blast to left center for the 8-0 lead.

Wallace retired the side in order in the bottom of the second, with Louisiana coming to bat to begin the third. The Ragin' Cajuns added another run in the inning as Erikka Murphy and Myers successfully completed the team's second double steal of the game for a 9-0 advantage.

The Lady Toppers got on the board in the bottom of the third as Preslie Cruce doubled to right center, plating Olivia Watkins, making the score 9-1.
