LAFAYETTE, La. -- The first Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) was released of the 2012 season and has the Ragin' Cajuns softball team locked in at No. 7. The top 16 teams in the RPI at the end of the season will be granted the right to host a regional tournament.

Despite suffering their first loss of the year, Louisiana (30-1, 5-1) is ranked eighth for the second consecutive week in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 and the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Polls, which were released on Tuesday.

UL erased a seven-run deficit in game one of their double header against Georgia Tech on Thursday to win, 12-11. The Cajuns finished off the sweep of the Yellow Jackets with a 10-2 victory in the nightcap. The squad fell in the first game of the series at Troy, 9-4 but responded to take the next two contests, 9-1 in five innings by way of the mercy rule.

Louisiana will take the week off before returning to action on Wednesday, April 4, at McNeese State with the first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
