Mobile Bay Intercollegiate Final Results
Senior golfer Andrew Noto was the lone bright spot for Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns golf team on Tuesday as the Cajuns finished in a tie for ninth overall at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala.
Despite Noto's final round score of 69 (-3), UL posted its highest score of the 2011-12 season carding three-round total of 879 (+15).
“I'm a little disappointed in the performance of our guys this week,” head coach Theo Sliman said. “When you play mediocre golf in a field like this, you end up finishing in the back of the pack like we did. Hopefully this is something that will be an eye opener for the team as we host the Louisiana Classics in less than two weeks.”
No.40 Middle Tennessee earned the tournament championship closing out the two-day tournament at 858 (-6). No.41 Memphis (859), No.39 Wake Forest (865), No.22 Illinois (866) and Vanderbilt (867) round out the top 5 spots at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. Wake Forest's Lee Beford and Mississippi State's Alex Rowland finished in a tie for individual title after tallying a score of 212 (-4).
Noto finished in a tie for 19th after carding a final score of two-over par (218).
Both Philipp Fendt and Brandt Garon finished in a tie for 29th at five-over par (221), while Chris Weninger capped the scoring for the Cajuns placing in a tie for 50th at nine-over par (225).
UL returns to action on March 5-6 when the Cajuns host the 27th Annual Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club.
