Golf Announces 2011-12 Schedule

Ragin' Cajuns head golf coach Theo Sliman released the team's 2011-12 schedule on Wednesday which includes several notable tournaments.
Sliman has put together a loaded schedule as the Cajuns are set to face several squads ranked in the top 25 during the season namely Illinois, LSU and N.C. State.
“This is one of the better schedules we have had in quite some time,” Sliman said. “We have elevated the schedule with the competition we will face. With the schedule we have put in place, if we can do our part, I think come April there should be some good news for us.”Louisiana is set to play in four fall tournaments as the Cajuns kick off the fall season on Sept. 12 at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate in Hattiesburg. Miss. UL will also go to the Kansas Invitational in Lawrence, Kan. (Sept. 19-20), Wolfpack Intercollegiate in Raleigh, N.C. (Oct. 3-4) and David Toms Intercollegiate in Shreveport, La. (Oct. 17-18) in the fall.
In the spring, the Cajuns have seven tournaments on the docket highlighted by the 27th Annual Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Counrty Club in Lafayette on March 5-6.
“The Louisiana Classics is a great testament to former head coach Bob Bass,” Sliman added. “The support we have had along with the length of time the tournament has been played makes it one of the top 15 tournaments in the country. Hosting the Louisiana Classics is definitely the highlight and pinnacle of our year.”
The Ragin' Cajuns are also set to go to the Oak Hill Invitational in San Antonio, Texas (Feb. 13-14), Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala. (Feb. 20-21), Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas (March 16-17), LSU National Invitational in Baton Rouge, La. (March 30-Apr. 1) All-American Classic in The Woodlands, Texas (Apr. 9-10) and Sun Belt Championships in Muscle Shoals, Ala. (April 23-25) during the spring season.
Sliman has two strong seniors to lean on in 2011-12 as both Philipp Fendt and Andrew Noto return for their final year of eligibility after qualifying for the NCAA regionals a year ago. Fendt was recently ranked inside the Top 30 in the Men's World Golf Amateur rankings.
