SBC Softball Bracket Released, Cajuns No.1

For the fourth consecutive year, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns have earned the top seed heading into the Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship after clinching the SBC regular season title on Saturday. The Cajuns will defend their SBC tournament crown beginning on Wednesday as they host the league's postseason tournament at Lamson Park.
The Cajuns head into the 2011 tournament on a seven-game winning streak and will face the No. 8 seed, Middle Tennessee, at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11 in the opening round of the tournament.
The Ragin' Cajuns earned the league's top seed after posting a conference-best 45-9 overall record and finishing 19-5 in SBC play. This marks the 11th time in the last 12 years that UL has earned the top seed in the tournament.
UL secured the league's regular season crown in historic fashion when junior pitching ace Ashley Brignac threw a no-hitter and struck out 13 batters in the 3-0 shutout of ULM in game on of their doubleheader on Saturday.
The Cajuns have won 10 of the 11 SBC tournament titles.
The winner of next week's tournament will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament which begins with Regional play on May 20. Following the conclusion of the Sun Belt Tournament on Saturday, the NCAA Tournament field will be announced on ESPNU at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15.
