Field events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the women's javelin throw and conclude with the women's shot put at 2 p.m. Running events start on a rolling schedule at 1 p.m. with the 3,000 meter Steeplechase.
17 teams, including seven from the Southland Conference, are participating in this weekend's meet at Northwestern State.
On Friday, UL held a one-day multi event at the Ragin' Cajuns Track / Soccer Facility. Tiffany Patrick won the women's heptathlon for the Cajuns with 4,588 points. Patrick claimed the javelin with a toss of 32.59 meters and the 800-meter run in 2:22.15 to win the seven-prong event.
"We look forward to this weekend's competition," said interim head coach Paula Ogunbanjo. "Our athletes are excited about the strong field of competition at Northwestern State."
UL currently has nine athletes that are ranked in the NCAA East Region's top-48 list. Among the leaders are the reigning Sun Belt Field Athletes of the Week, Jasmine Manuel and O' Daylon Thibeaux.
Manuel's mark of 41-10 ¾ (12.77m) in the triple jump is 11th in the region and atop the Sun Belt leaderboard. The junior from Hammond recorded a new outdoor school record by passing Cecilia Noel's leap of 41-7 set in 1997.
In his first outdoor event of the year, Thibeaux leaped 51-2 ¼ (15.60m), which leads the SBC and is 10th in the East region.
Antwain Keyes' high jump of 6-10 ¾ (2.10m) set at the Louisiana Classics still stands as the 18th best mark in the region.
In the shot put, Jacob Domingue (57-3 ½ , 17.46m) and Albert Fournette (52-7 ¾ , 17.44m) are 18th and 19th respectively in the NCAA East.
Jasmine Anderson has the region's 16th-best time, running the 100m hurdles in 13.47 at the LSU Relays on March 26. The senior is 42nd in the 200m dash with a time of 24.02.
