The McNeese State meet will feature eight field events beginning with the women's hammer throw at 9 a.m. and concluding with the men's high jump at 3 p.m.
There will be 12 running events, starting with the 5,000-meter run at Noon. All of the events will start with the women's race proceeding with the men's race.
"We are ready to compete and start off this outdoor season with great performances," said interim head coach Paula Ogunbanjo.
Louisiana claimed 11 All-Conference accolades and six individual titles at the 2011 SBC Indoor Championships.
Jasmine Anderson, who was named the Sun Belt's Women's Indoor Most Outstanding Track Performer, notched titles in the 200-meter dash and the 55-meter hurdles. Last season, the senior was named All-Conference in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles.
Looking to defend his outdoor title in the triple jump, O'Daylon Thibeaux will compete this weekend. The sophomore was named Co-Most Outstanding Freshman Performer during the 2010 outdoor season. He placed third in the indoor triple jump this year, earning All-Conference, with a leap of 49-7 ¾.
Also returning as Most Outstanding Freshman is Myles Melancon. The St. Martinville native won the outdoor shot put title last year and is entering the 2011 outdoor season with an indoor shot put title.
Antwain Keyes claimed All-Conference in the outdoor high jump last year and is coming off a stellar jump of 6-9 ½ to earn the indoor title this season.
The Cowboy Relays is the first of seven meets scheduled during the outdoor campaign. Next weekend, March 18-19, UL will host the annual Louisiana Classics. The Cajuns then head east to participate in the LSU Relays on March 25-26.
In April, Louisiana will partake in the prestigious Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin on April 6-9. The Cajuns take a week hiatus, returning to Baton Rouge for the LSU Alumni Gold event on the 23rd.
Concluding the regular season, Louisiana will host the Cole-Lancon Twilight on April 30th before taking part in the Sun Belt Conference Championships held in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on May 13-15.
