Brignac Earns Sun Belt Award

For the third straight week, a Ragin' Cajuns pitcher has been named Sun Belt Pitcher of Week. This time Ashley Brignac has picked up the award.

Brignac threw two complete game shutouts at the Cowgirl Classic last weekend, including a no-hitter against the host McNeese State Cowgirls on Saturday.

Brignac blanked the Cowgirls in a 4-0 UL win, striking out seven while allowing just three base runners.

The junior right-hander then turned around and tied a career high with 16 strikeouts against Houston Baptist in another shutout win.

The honor comes after Brignac won the award in week one and Christina Hamilton won it last week. The Cajuns have won all three of the Pitcher of the Week awards thus far in 2011.

UL returns to action this weekend when they travel to the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex to participate in the Citrus Classic on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
