UL Falters In Florida Against UCF and FIU

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team walked away with two defeats through the first two days of a three-day stay in Florida.
On Friday, the Cajuns fell victim to UCF, 4-3, before dropping a decision to no. 61 FIU, 5-2, on Saturday.
With the losses, UL is now 4-4 on the season and 2-1 against Sun Belt schools.
"The matches have been going to deeps sets all weekend," said UL women's tennis head coach Greg Harkins. "Every match has seemed to turn on just a couple of points here and there. But the girls are not discouraged. We know we can play better, the ball has just not been bouncing our way."
In Orlando, Fla. on Friday, the Cajuns and the Knights tied 3-3 in the singles competition. Audrey Wooland, Julie Mazinova and Sandra Ahlqvist all walked away with wins. Wooalnd and Ahlqvist needed three sets to secure their points with Ahlqvist's match coming down to a third set tiebreaker.
But the Knights (4-3) had the upper hand in doubles, sweeping all three matches.
In Miami, Fla. on Saturday the Cajuns pushed the Panthers to the end but could not capture the win. Mazinova won again for UL in no. 2 singles while Milou Israel won from the no. 4 spot in straight sets (6-4, 6-4).
Briggitt Marcovich and Ahlqvist were close to gaining two points in singles. Both forced third sets but were unable come out on top.
FIU (3-5) claimed the doubles point after winning all three matches.
UL will look to end its three-day trip to the Sunshine with a win against FAU tomorrow. First serve is set for 9 a.m CT.
