Cajuns Grab Title With 9-1 Win

The 16th ranked Ragin' Cajuns softball team closed out the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational with a 9-1, five-inning win over Tennessee State on Sunday. The win gave Louisiana (10-0) a perfect 5-0 record on the weekend, winning them their second consecutive regular season tournament title.
UL was led at the plate by Sarah Draheim who posted two hits and four RBI on the day.
Ashley Brignac (4-0) got the start and the win in the circle. She went 4.1 innings, giving up just one hit and one unearned run while striking out six.
The Cajuns have now outscored their 10 opponents in 2011 by a score of 135-3.
The Cajuns plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning with just one base hit. Tennessee State walked three Cajuns to load the bases for Sarah Draheim, who proceeded to hit a three-RBI double off of the wall plating all three runners.
The Cajuns would give up one unearned run in the third inning making the score 3-1. The run marked the first scored against the Cajuns on the weekend.
UL would add their final six runs in the fourth inning thanks to five hits a walk and a hit batter. Three infield singles loaded the bases to start the inning for Cajuns who scored their first run when Nerissa Myers was hit by a pitch. A walk to Jennifer Martin then scored the Cajuns second run of the inning.
Ragin' Cajuns Invitational MVP Christi Orgeron then doubled down the left field line to plate two more for UL. A RBI ground out by Gabriele Bridges and a RBI single by Sarah Draheim gave the Cajuns their final 9-1 margin
The Cajuns will return to action next weekend when they play away from Lamson Park for the first time this season. UL will travel to McNeese State for the Cowgirl Classic where they will take on Southern, Jackson State, Grambling State, McNeese and Houston Baptist.
