Ragin? Cajuns Tennis Classics Start Friday

The Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team is set host to Conference USA, Sun Belt, WAC and Southland Conference opponents this weekend in the 2011 Ragin' Cajun Women's Tennis Classics at Cajun Courts inside the Culotta Center.
We've got great regional flavor coming in this weekend," said head women's tennis coach Greg Harkins. "It's a chance to see players in a tournament format. All 18 courts (including the courts at Bourgeois) will be in use each day.
The three-day tournament will feature a compass draw with play starting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Sunday's start is slated for 9 a.m.
Along with the Cajuns, South Alabama, Middle Tennessee, La.-Monroe, Southern Mississippi, Lamar, McNeese State, Northwestern State and Louisiana Tech round out the field for the tournament.
UL had a good showing to start the season at the NSU Lady Demon Invitational. Leading the way for the Cajuns was Sandra Ahlqvist, Hannah Appleyard and Haley Acuna who each posted a pair of wins at the event.
“Our younger players are going to want to assert themselves this weekend, and the seasoned core we have back will use this to shake off some rust," Harkins said.
The Cajuns continue the fall season on Oct. 21 when they head to Birmingham, Ala. for the ITA Southern Regionals.
