Cajuns Take 3rd at Wolfpack Intercollegiate

After spending much of the first day in second place, the Ragin' Cajuns golf team finished the Wolfpack Intercollegiate in third posting a final round score of 292 on Tuesday at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course located on N.C. State's Centennial Campus in Raleigh, N.C.
"The team played solid, just not solid enough for us to win,” said head golf coach Theo Sliman. “We dropped a few shots coming down the stretch, and in the position we were in, you can't do that if you expect to close the deal and win.”
The Cajuns finished five shots back of tournament champion Memphis after carding a final score of 14-over par (866).
“I am very proud of this team,” Sliman added. “We have been in the final group in every event thus far. We will keep knocking on the door. If we can apply what we are learning then we should see some success from that. We are a better team coming home due to our experience this week."
Both Philipp Fendt and Chris Weninger placed in the top-10 for UL. Fendt had the low score of the day for the Cajuns shooting even par (72) to finish the even in third place at even par (213).
Weninger finished just one stroke back of Fendt to finish in a tie for fourth place overall at one-over par (214).
Brandt Garon recorded a final round score of 74 to finish in a tie for 30th overall at +9 (222), while Andrew Noto and Yohann Vora rounded out the scoring for the Cajuns in a tie for 49th (226).
Memphis (861), UNC-Greensboro (863), Louisiana (866), East Carolina (870), and Campbell (870) rounded out the top-five. UNCG's Robert Hoadley finished atop the leaderboard at four-under par (209).
The Cajuns will have a week off before heading to Shreveport, La. for their final fall tournament in the David Toms Intercollegiate.
