Cajuns Challenged at David Toms Intercollegiate

The Ragin' Cajuns golf team will have to overcome a sluggish start after finishing the first day of the David Toms Intercollegiate in seventh with 36-holes in the books in Shreveport, La.
“We came out flat early,” said head golf coach Theo Sliman. “We hit the ball better than the score reflects, but we also hurt ourselves with a lot of unforced errors.”
Only two teams in the field finished the day under par on what was a pristine day at the Southern Trace Country Club.
Despite the slow start, the Cajuns find themselves only six strokes back of LSU for third place with a score of 586 (+10).
“We are only six shots back, and will we have our chance to move up the leaderboard tomorrow," added Sliman. "Tomorrow is looking to be a challenging day as the weather is expected to make things difficult in the final round. We just need to come out and capitalize on the opportunities afforded to us."
Andrew Noto led UL on the day shooting 69-71 to finish at four-under par and in second place, just two shots back of Oklahoma's Michael Schoolcraft.
“Apart from a couple mishaps, Noto played very solid," Sliman said. "Coming down the stretch he made some key puts and really stayed within himself and didn't concern himself with what others were doing. I am very proud of him."
The only other Cajun in the top-30 is Philipp Fendt. Fendt carded a 36-hole score of 147 (+3) and is in a tie for 20th overall.
Yohann Vora and Brandt Garon rounded out UL's scoring on the day, as Vora posted a two-round total of 150 while Garon tallied a score of 152.
The Cajuns will look to make their move tomorrow morning, teeing off at 9:00 a.m.
