The Cajuns (5-1, 3-0 Sun Belt) have won five of the last six meetings against the Mean Green. In the last meeting at Cajun Field, UL fought its way back from a 10-point disadvantage - after allowing North Texas to score 24 unanswered points - to claim a 38-34 win over the Mean Green on Oct. 10, 2009.
Louisiana's 5-1 start is tied for the best in Sun Belt history and is UL's best start since 1988 (also 5-1). The Cajuns five-game winning streak was most recently accomplished in 2005. The last time a UL team won six straight was 1993 (Jake Delhomme's freshman season).
Chris Masson led the Cajuns to a 31-17 upset of Troy. He came off of the bench to throw for 211 yards and two touchdowns. With his 211 yards passing, Masson moved into fifth in career passing yards with 4,683. He was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Masson's 24 career TD passes puts him in a tie with Jon Van Cleave for fourth all-time.
Alonzo Harris has posted touchdown runs in three straight contests since recording his first collegiate TD against FIU. He currently leads the team with 298 yards rushing.
The Cajuns had a receiver post 100-plus yards in back-to-back games for the first time since 2005 with Javone Lawson's eight-catch, 131 yard performance against Troy.
In the last five games, the Cajuns offensive line has averaged just one sack allowed. They have also had just one penalty called against them in the last three contests.
The D-line held a team under 100 yards rushing for the second time on the year limiting Troy to just 77 yards on 27 carries.
Melvin White had an 89-yard interception return for touchdown against Troy. White became the fourth member of the secondary to post a “pick six” in 2011. His return marked the longest by a UL player at Cajun Field.
The Cajuns lead the nation with five “pick sixes” on the year. Both Vanderbilt and Tulane rank second with three.
In three home games, UL is averaging 28,285 per game. The Cajuns are on pace to establish the school record for average home attendance and shatter the current standard of 25,224 set in 1977.
Following Saturday's game, the Cajuns will play four of the last five contests on the road starting at Western Kentucky on Oct. 22 in Bowling Green, Ky. UL won its only previous road game at WKU in 2009 by a final of 30-22.
