Cajuns Release Scrimmage Schedule
8/13/2010 7:32:00 PM | Football
Head coach Rickey Bustle has released the format this Saturday's scrimmage to be held at Cajun Field.
The Ragin' Cajuns will begin stretching at 8:30 a.m. and the scrimmage, the first of the 2010 camp, will begin at approximately 8:55 a.m.
The first half of the scrimmage will consist of ten, seven-play series. The first team offense and second team defense will match-up, while the second team offense and first team defense will face each other.
Each series is set at seven plays regardless of down, distance or drive status. The goal of the scrimmage is for each unit, offense and defense, to get the most production out of the seven plays.
After a short halftime break, the team will take to the field with the first team offense and defense slated to face each other. The second half will contain a total of eight more seven play series.
The goal at the end of the day is for the team to see 126 snaps.
Saturday's scrimmage is open to the public. In event of rain, the scrimmage will be moved inside the Leon Moncla Indoor Practice Facility, and due to fire marshal restrictions will be closed to the public.
The Cajuns have Sunday scheduled as an off day. The team returns to the practice field on Monday for a full week of work. UL's next scrimmage is slated for next Saturday, August 21. The team will begin stretching at 8:30 a.m., with the first play scheduled for 8:50 a.m.
